This is my favorite comedy show of all time. Almost all of us know the history of the show. So I will give you the quick version. It debuted in September of 1964 and ran for 2 seasons.  Beverly Owens was the first Marilyn. She left after the first season because she thought she only signed for the pilot and not for the series. She was homesick so the producers let her out of her contract and put Pat Priest in her place, In the first few episodes Herman had more of a dry sense of humor and as the show went on, the cast grew into their roles and Herman got more funny as the series went on. The chemistry between the cast was perfect. Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis were friends and had worked on a previous hit tv show together, Car 54 Where are you? so they already had a chemistry between them. The show was geared to children and Universal Monster fans. They even had some guest stars like John Carradine (Dracula from House of Dracula and House of Frankenstein) as Mr. Gateman (Hermans' boss) and Grant Williams (The Incredible Shrinking Man) in the episode Hermans Star Border. The first Eddie in the pilot was played by Happy Derman who Al Lewis once said was not a very happy child. He would be replaced with Butch Patrick. Herman's wife was originally Phoebe played by Joan Marshall. The character was changed to Lily and played by Yvonne DeCarlo who was already a movie star. The show spawned  a theatrical film (Munster Go Home) and tv movie (The Munsters Revenge)which was a pilot but failed and a barely watchable updated version of the show called The Munsters Today. There would be a new tv movie years later which featured cameos by all of the original cast except Fred Gwynne because he passed away about a year earlier. There was also one more tv movie The Munsters Scary Little Christmas. But without the members of the original cast is just isn't the same.
